Tracey L. Collins grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She has four sisters and lots of nieces and nephews.
Tracey is an educator and author whose life's work is supporting children and families across the globe. For almost two decades, she has served as a Teacher, Community School Coordinator, Assistant Principal and Principal in the New York City Public Schools. While caring for her mother in New Orleans, Tracey also served as a Teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal in the New Orleans Public Schools. Curently, Tracey serves as a Senior Youth Development Director in the New York City Public Schools.
As a Principal, Tracey established relations of care and trust as a foundation for teaching and learning. Tracey refers to all children and youth as scholars. Each day her work is inspired by one simple phrase: "Scholars are learners that get smarter, wiser and kinder everyday."
Through her work as a Principal and Senior Youth Development Director, Tracey promotes a lifeline of Positive Youth Development and the importance of Social Emotional Learning. To cultivate her purpose and cascade out her life's work, Tracey writes and publishes. In addition, she serves as the Chairperson of the Educational Task Force for New York State Senator Eric Adams, representing the 20th Senatorial District in Brooklyn, NY. Tracey also formed Fully Persuaded for Children and Families Inc. This non profit organization is designed to facilitate Social-Emotional Learning for children and adults.
In very practical ways, Tracey partners with others to generate change for the better. Tracey's motto in work and in life is: "Together We Can."
